Introduction

The Campus Cyber is the totem of cybersecurity, bringing together the main national and international players in the field. It brings together on the same site companies (large groups, SMEs, start-ups), government departments, training organizations, research players and associations. The Cyber Campus implements initiatives designed to federate the cybersecurity community and develop synergies between these different players. To boost interaction within the ecosystem, the Cyber Campus has created the Cyber Commons Studio, which will support R&D and innovation by setting up pooling processes.

Through various means, the Studio aims to advance knowledge of the French ecosystem and increase its capacity for innovation. The work carried out by the Studio des Communs de la cyber should address the following points:

  • Identify and anticipate future developments in the cyber market
  • Explore complex issues through risk reduction and mutualization
  • Implement exploratory projects and share results
  • Spread the views and orientations of the French ecosystem

To fulfill its mission, the cyber commons studio relies on a number of interdependent bodies.

  • Working Group (WG) - Brings together a group of cybersecurity specialists to explore solutions and prefigure joint projects.
  • Community of Interest (CI) - Is an extension of the WG, enabling all players to meet their peers and follow the progress of a WG.

Communities organization

Communauties of interest

The Communities of Interest are the deliberative and guiding bodies behind the work of the studio des communs. They are made up of business and cybersecurity experts to initiate projects, and are organized by theme. Community of Interest themes are collected from colleges. At the same time, any Cyber Campus member or partner can call on the studio des communs to propose new themes. Once a theme has been validated, the Studio des Communes is in charge of communications to help the Community of Interest emerge.

To contact the Studio des Communs, simply use the following address: communautes@campuscyber.fr. The CIs will identify, formalize and prioritize the challenges and issues to be addressed by joint work or research. Challenges have a time horizon of more than three years, and the involvement of the research college is necessary to explore a topic (TRL 2 to 4), whereas issues have a time horizon of less than three years.

Prioritization is based primarily on the following criteria:

  • Involvement: must elicit voluntary commitment.
  • Complexity: Must involve a range of players to be resolved.
  • Operativeness: must enable commonalities/POCs/prototypes to be transformed into projects.
  • Potential: Must have a promising market potential.

Once the prioritization is complete, the CIs can initiate their workgroups.

The CIs can organize a presentation program to share feedback, state-of-the-art research or product/service presentations. By explicit decision, all community productions can be published on the wiki. In particular, the wiki features a blog to simplify publications and a system for referencing external resources.

The CIs are responsible for monitoring the workgroups that are to produce the commons. For a WG to be initiated, at least two referents must be voluntarily identified. The priority of the working groups is to produce industry or technology commons that support the deployment of innovation and sovereign technology. Although CIs are designed to be an open format, the Cyber Campus reserves the right to refuse access to a CI.

Roles
A CI is built on three roles:

  • Animation roles: Studio des communs coordination support
  • Coordination roles: responsible for organization (min 0.5 days/week)
  • Active contributors: Active participation in WG meetings and production of deliverables (min 1 day/month).

Involvement
CIs must ensure good representation of Cyber Campus members, involve profiles impacted by the subjects and increase the chances of producing cyber commons. For a good composition, each CI always tries to have at least 3 colleges represented in its midst. Registration

Registrations for CIs are taken at the start of each cycle. As CIs are highly production-oriented, technical or technical-functional profiles are preferred to become active contributors.

Cycles are launched via e-mailing, enabling members to apply as active contributors or members of the community of interest. To follow communications, any member can ask to be added to the Studio des communs and/or Insider mailing lists. Requests can be made via the following e-mail address: communautés@campuscyber.fr

The coordinators are responsible for selecting suitable profiles for the CI. Any profile not selected will automatically be added to the community of interest. Refusal of an application in no way expresses a subjective opinion on the part of the Studio team, as the rules governing the composition of the WGs have been drawn up to ensure that they function optimally.

Working groups

A WG is a production area. The issues to be addressed are decided by the CIs. Working groups are mainly made up of community members. If necessary, the WG can bring in members from outside the CI. Work progress is communicated to the IC. A WG is dedicated to the production of a single common. When the common is delivered and distributed, the WG is dissolved. If new work related to the initial problem needs to be launched, a new WG creation process is initiated. WGs are intended to be flexible and autonomous, to guarantee the commitment of all those involved. A working group is made up of 3 to 7 members maximum, for a recommended duration not exceeding 18 months. WGs are free in their organization.

Il existe trois formats d’accompagnement :

  • Autonomous: The GT is not accompanied by the studio des communs.
  • Supported: The WG is supported by the studio des communs.
  • Externalized: The GT is supported by an association from the Cyber Campus association college.

WG members must sign a cooperation agreement at the start of their work. When the deliverable is sufficiently advanced, it is necessary to sign an exploitation agreement. It is strongly recommended that the exploitation agreement be submitted to and revised by the community of interest, particularly with regard to dissemination and governance of the commons.

Roles
A WG is made up of several members, each with a specific role:

  • Facilitation roles (for supported WGs) :Studio des Communs coordination support
  • Referent roles: Responsible for meeting production targets (min 0.5 days/week)
  • Active contributors : Active participation in WG meetings and production of deliverables (min 1 day/month).

Registration
Registration for WGs is via the CI. As WGs are very production-oriented, technical or technical-functional profiles are preferred to become active contributors. Launches are made according to the CI's schedule. If necessary, the IC can ask for support from the Studio des Communs to complete the WG. The referents are responsible for selecting suitable profiles for the WG.

=== Livrables ===

=== Communication ===
